Frequently asked questions:
Q: Why should I take up Martial Arts?
A: There are many benefits to Martial Arts training, as listed above. Children especially benefit from the discipline and respect they learn in the lessons, other people learn better concentration skills, improve their co-ordination and fitness levels, it promotes good healthy living and also gives you more self confidence. There are so many ways our training can help you feel better!
Q: I have never done anything like this before. What can I expect?
A: Our lessons segment covers what is in a typical class, but the first thing to expect is a warm welcome! We try to make everyone feel at home and as relaxed as possible as we all remember what it was like to start! But generally a class will always teach you how to warm up correctly, then teach you techniques and applications at your own level, then you will learn how to do the techniques with a partner. Nervous about who you will work with? Why not bring a friend along!
Q: I heard Martial arts makes you violent. Will this make me / my child aggressive?
A: Quite the opposite! Martial Arts training is a great outlet for stress and relieves tension. It teaches children discipline and respect more than anything else, and shows them how violence doesn’t have to be the answer. Sometimes just knowing that you can control a situation, means violence doesn’t have to be the first action taken! It is one of our fundamental rules that training should not be used outside of the class, unless absolutely necessary.
Q: I want to do competitions / don’t want to do competitions. Is it a requirement?
A: We do compete in Martial Arts tournaments right up to International level, and encourage it in our classes as much as we can, however it is not required as part of your training, and is purely optional.
Q: How do I join?
A: Visit our lessons and find a class you like, then go to our timetable and book your first FREE class! It’s that easy.
Q: What do I wear?
A: Loose clothing is best, ideally a T-shirt and jogging bottoms.
